Quarantine Declared in Moscow Due to Bird Flu, Says Mayor

The Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, has announced a quarantine in several districts of the capital due to reported cases of bird flu.

According to TASS, the areas affected are around the Borisovskiye Ponds and the Besedinskoye Highway, which have been designated as epizootic foci.

Within the epizootic foci, any activities related to poultry farming are prohibited, including the import and export of poultry and eggs, slaughtering of birds, treatment of sick birds, and removal of feathers and down.

In the danger zone, the import and export of poultry meat is banned, as well as the trading of bird feed, storage of poultry meat, and the holding of agricultural fairs and other events associated with the mass gathering of various bird and animal species.

The districts recognized as danger zones include Brateyevo, Kapotnya, Marino, Lyublino, Pechatniki, Moskvoreche-Saburovo, Tsaritsyno, Biryulyovo, Orekhovo-Borisovo, and Zyablikovo. The monitoring zone includes all adjacent areas.
