Komitas' Collection of Works Registered in UNESCO's Memory of the World International Register
The collection of works by Father Komitas has been registered in UNESCO's Memory of the World International Register. The registration was made by a unanimous decision of the UNESCO Executive Board on May 18.
Alongside the collection of ancient manuscripts of the Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran, the research on galaxies by astronomer Benjamin Margaryan (also known as the first study of Byurakan), and the collection of composer Aram Khachaturian's handwritten scores and film music, the fourth Armenian documentary heritage has found its rightful place.
The Memory of the World International Register is a list of documentary heritage that includes documents, manuscripts, audiovisual materials, library collections, and archives that have been recognized as embodying values of exceptional significance and need to be documented and preserved for humanity.
