Bashar al-Assad Visits Saudi Arabia for the First Time in 12 Years
The President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, has arrived in Saudi Arabia to participate in the Arab League Summit. This marks Assad's first visit to the kingdom since the beginning of 2011.
As previously reported, Assad will attend the Arab League Summit on May 19 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, his first participation in the meeting in 12 years. He received an invitation to the high-level gathering after foreign ministers of the organization approved Syria's return to the Arab League on May 7.
The restoration of the Republic's full membership in the association is expected to significantly impact the prevailing situation in the region.
