Armenia to Partially Subsidize Salaries of Graduates from the World's Top 400 Universities, Says Kherobyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has announced that the government will provide partial salary subsidies for graduates from the top 400 universities included in global university rankings when they are hired by local companies.
Armenia's Minister of Economy, Vahan Kherobyan, provided further details on the program, stating, "We are providing a 20% subsidy if the individual hired has graduated from one of the top 400 universities or has several years of work experience in leading companies." According to Kherobyan, the goal of this initiative is to attract high-caliber professionals to local companies, bringing international experience and knowledge with them.
“We are offering a 50% subsidy for those individuals who not only fulfill the requirement of having graduated from the top 400 universities but also hold a doctoral degree (PhD),” he added. In this case, the objective is to bring scholars into Armenian companies.
Kherobyan emphasized that recent findings from the published Global Innovation Index revealed that Armenian companies are using very little scientific knowledge in their products, and the target is to increase the share of science in the country's industry and business.
He also noted that the government will subsidize 70% of the salaries of graduates from the top 400 universities who are employed in Armenian universities and educational institutions. According to Kherobyan, applications for salary subsidies for approximately 300 highly qualified professionals have already been approved.
