Turmoil Erupts in Artsakh's Political Arena Following Samvel Babayan's Activation

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: Samvel Babayan's resurgence as the former Secretary of the Security Council has stirred turbulence in Artsakh's political landscape. Political turmoil between the ruling party and opposition has erupted since yesterday.

Babayan's rally was halted after a statement by Araik Harutyunyan, announcing the initiation of political consultations. The opposition does not wish to participate in these discussions.

Sources indicate that the parliamentary opposition is skeptical that Babayan and Harutyunyan are collaborating, hence their reluctance to engage in what they consider a manipulated game. They argue that if the President is willing to engage with the approximately one thousand attendees of Babayan’s rally, why hasn’t he shown the same willingness towards the thousands who participated in former Prime Minister Ruben Vardanyan’s rally on May 9?

Earlier, we reported that Ruben Vardanyan and four parliamentary forces, alongside extra-parliamentary groups and NGOs, had presented a plan to the authorities to exit the crisis. To prevent further escalation of the internal political situation, Harutyunyan may start consultations with both Babayan's and Vardanyan’s camps regarding their proposed agendas.
