Erdogan 49.34%, Kilicdaroglu 45%: Second Round of Elections in Turkey
According to TRT Haber, after counting 99.99% of the ballots, Turkey's incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has garnered 49.34% of the votes. His main rival, opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu, received 45% of the voter support. If either candidate surpasses the 50% threshold after all ballots are counted, the elections will conclude in the first round. Otherwise, a second round will take place in two weeks, on May 28.
Erdogan stated that he believes he will win in the first round but is prepared for the second. Meanwhile, Kilicdaroglu remarked that Erdogan did not achieve the results he expected. “If our people request a second round, it will be an honor for us. We will definitely win in the second round of these elections. The demand for change in society is over 50%,” he said.
