Azerbaijan Has Something to Gain from Armenia, Expert Says

Regional expert Armen Petrosyan discussed the Turkish elections, Brussels negotiations, and the expected developments based on their outcomes in an interview with Shant TV.

According to Petrosyan, the European Union has no leverage over Baku, making the Brussels platform the least favorable for Armenia. One reason is Azerbaijan's uncompromising behavior. The mediating party responsible for organizing negotiations must have clear mechanisms to bring the parties into a constructive environment.

Petrosyan also noted the EU's vulnerabilities due to significant economic ties with Azerbaijan.

He addressed expectations regarding the return of captives, stating: "Azerbaijan has something to gain from Armenia. This refers to two deserting servicemen, one of whom is a criminal. They had crossed the Armenian border, and one of them committed murder. I am confident that Azerbaijan may make concessions, even disproportionate ones, to return these two servicemen," Petrosyan said.
