armenia would have a more stable situation if it had deployed a CSTO monitoring mission, lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the situation in Armenia during an interview with the "Tsargrad" television channel.
"Yerevan would have a more stable situation if it signed the document on the deployment of a CSTO monitoring mission," Lavrov stated, adding, "A document was prepared for the CSTO summit to be held in Yerevan in the fall of 2022 on the deployment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's monitoring mission at the request of our Armenian allies."
"If Yerevan had confirmed what had already been agreed and was ready to sign and implement it, I am sure that Armenia would benefit and have a more stable situation," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
Lavrov noted that the document was fully coordinated at the level of foreign ministers: "Then, at the last minute, right at the summit, our Armenian friends asked to postpone its adoption, and it remains on paper and cannot be implemented to this day."
It is worth mentioning that on April 13, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in Parliament that Armenia is ready to host the CSTO mission, but discussions in this regard are ongoing.
