Russia Becomes Second Largest Supplier of Goods to India
In the first quarter of 2023, Russia exported a record amount of goods to India, becoming the second largest supplier to the country for the first time. This is reported by the "RIA Novosti" agency, analyzing data released by India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
According to the agency's statistics, Russia's exports to India increased by 4.7 times in January-March compared to the same period last year, reaching $15.5 billion, marking the highest quarterly figure in history.
China remains the primary supplier of goods to India. However, exports from China to India decreased by 15.4% in the first quarter, down to $22.6 billion. The United Arab Emirates occupies the third position with $12.7 billion in exports, compared to $12.1 billion the previous year.
The United States ranks fourth, with imports to India decreasing by 8.8% year-on-year. The top five is concluded by Saudi Arabia, from which India purchased 10.9% less goods compared to a year ago, amounting to $10.4 billion.
At the same time, exports from India to Russia increased by 33%, reaching $946.6 million, and trade between the two countries grew 4.1 times, reaching $16.45 billion.
