Integration Center for Returnees to Operate in Armenia: Zareh Sinanyan
An Integration Center for Returnees will start operating in Armenia this summer. This was announced to Sputnik Armenia by the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan.
“We are in the final phase of opening the Return and Integration Center. The location has already been chosen, necessary works have been carried out, and there is a team ready to assist returnees in this challenging process,” said Sinanyan.
He clarified that the center's aim is to facilitate the return of compatriots, help them adapt, and focus on building their future in Armenia instead of dealing with various bureaucratic issues. Thanks to the center, it will be possible to gather precise information about the number of returnees.
According to the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, only the launch of an electronic platform remains, which will allow for data digitization and make it accessible to other government partners. However, it has been decided not to wait for the platform's launch and to commence the center's operations in June.
It is expected that Armenians from the diaspora wishing to return to Armenia will establish contact with one of the center's operators, who will accompany them from the moment of repatriation through adaptation and assist them in various matters.
“Our goal is to ensure that returnees integrate quickly and easily into Armenia. The main focus will be on helping compatriots interested in repatriation, as well as those who have already relocated to Armenia,” noted Sinanyan.
It is worth mentioning that in 2022, the office of the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs received 8,000 applications for repatriation. For the first time, Armenian language courses have been organized, with the number of participants reaching 240.
