Baku Criticizes EU Representative in Armenia
Baku considers the intervention of the EU ambassador in Azerbaijan's internal affairs to be unacceptable. This was stated on May 15 by the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Ayxan Hacizada.
He noted that in reference to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the EU representative in Armenia, Andrea Victorino, stated on May 15 that "it is necessary to ensure the rights and security of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh, and for that, an international mechanism should be created."
In this regard, Hacizada stated that Azerbaijan's position on this issue is well known to everyone. "The claims of the EU representative are an interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, contradict international law, and are unacceptable. The Nagorno-Karabakh region is an inseparable part of Azerbaijan. Just like the rights of other national minorities residing in Azerbaijan, the rights of the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh will also be ensured within the framework of our country's legislation," Hacizada said.
According to him, no one should hinder the government's attempts to establish a dialogue with the Armenian residents. "We must put an end to statements against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country," the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated.
