«We Would Like That This Process Would Move a Little Faster»: Pashinyan

The image of the European Union has significantly improved after the Union decided to send an observation mission to Armenia. In an interview with the Czech magazine 'Respekt', Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement in response to a question about whether Armenia's perception of the EU has changed in the past year.

“It has changed significantly, but this has nothing to do with the events occurring in Ukraine. The EU's image has considerably improved after the institution decided to send an observation mission to Armenia. This made it clear to the people that the Union cares about Armenia's security. Emotionally and politically, this has enhanced the EU's reputation, although it has never been perceived negatively,” Pashinyan noted.

According to the Prime Minister, the EU is Armenia's main partner in implementing democratic reforms. “If you were to ask citizens what the most visible changes in Armenia are, they would likely mention the establishment of the patrol police. We are doing this in cooperation with the EU, and this year we expect the arrival of a new batch of 'Skoda' brand vehicles in Armenia, so we have a very broad agenda in our relations with the EU. After the 2021 elections, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, visited Armenia and promised €2.6 billion in support within the framework of the Eastern Partnership. We would like this process to move a little faster,” the Prime Minister stated.
