Vahagn Vermishyan Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison
The former head of the Urban Development Committee of Armenia, Vahagn Vermishyan, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison, according to his lawyer Alexander Kochubayev.
"In essence, the political persecution continues. The court succumbed to the will of the political power. The verdict will be appealed to the Court of Appeals, and a complaint against the illegal detention has been submitted to the European Court," he wrote on his Facebook page.
It is noteworthy that Vahagn Vermishyan has been charged with receiving a large bribe and fraudulently misappropriating someone else's property of considerable value by abusing his official position.
