US to Deliver 31 M1 Abrams Tanks for Training of Ukrainian Soldiers
The United States has moved 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Germany for the training of Ukrainian soldiers, Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder announced on Monday.
“I can confirm that 31 M1 Abrams tanks have been delivered to Germany for the continued training of Ukrainian tank crews,” Ryder stated during a press briefing.
According to him, it is expected that the tank crews will arrive in Germany and begin their training “in the coming weeks.”
Ryder emphasized that the vehicles transferred to Germany are intended for “specific training purposes and do not always meet the requirements for combat operations.” He reminded that the tanks the US plans to supply to Ukraine are currently undergoing maintenance.
Earlier reports indicated that American military personnel stationed in Germany would begin training Ukrainian soldiers in the operation of M1 Abrams tanks at the beginning of the summer.
