The U.S. is Ready to Work with Any Election Winner in Turkey
The U.S. authorities believe that the general elections in Turkey have been conducted peacefully, said John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator for the National Security Council at the White House. He noted that it is still unclear who will become Turkey's president, but American leader Joe Biden is ready to cooperate with any political figure.
“We congratulate the Turkish people for their peaceful expression of will. U.S. President Joe Biden looks forward to working with whoever wins the elections. Again, it is still unclear,” said Kirby.
As the White House representative mentioned, the composition of Turkey's leadership should be determined by the country's people. He also added that the United States will monitor the situation in the country.
Earlier, Turkey's current leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that he is confident in his victory in the second round of presidential elections scheduled for May 28.
