By September 1, all old Gazelle routes will be replaced with new buses: Avinyan

The operational route network has been digitized, resulting in studies being conducted. All microbus routes serviced by Gazelle brand transportation have been analyzed; there are 24 of them. Following the study, combinations of bus and microbus overlapping routes have been implemented to enable service with new vehicles,” informed Vazgen Harutyunyan, head of Yerevan Municipality's Transport Department.

According to him, 363 Gazelles will be replaced with 143 buses, which will in turn ease traffic flow. “With the reduction of the fleet, the mileage of these vehicles will decrease, which will have a positive economic effect on operating and servicing costs,” he stated. According to Harutyunyan, these changes will be visible starting June 1.

A new route to Zvartnots Airport will also be introduced. “Regular passenger transfers to Zvartnots Airport will be conducted every 45 minutes,” he added.

Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan also noted that as a result of these changes, by September 1 all lines serviced by old Gazelles will be replaced with new buses. According to him, the route to Zvartnots Airport will be serviced by MAN vehicles. “Quality will be ensured, and a positive first impression will be created for guests about the city,” Avinyan said.
