Erdogan Leads Turkey's Presidential Elections
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is leading the presidential elections in Turkey. This has been reported by Turkish news outlets citing initial data from the electoral commission.
Erdogan has received 59.47% of the votes after counting about 10% of the ballots. His main rival from the opposition, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, has garnered 34.79% of the votes.
Erdogan commented on the presidential and parliamentary elections held today in the country. “The voting process concluded in accordance with our democracy, thank God. Now, as always, it is time to firmly hold on to the ballot boxes. Until the final results are announced, we continue to defend the will of our people,” he wrote on his Twitter page.
