ECHR Rejects Saakashvili's Lawyers' Request for Continued Treatment Abroad
The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the request of lawyers representing Mikheil Saakashvili, the imprisoned former president of Georgia, to send him to a foreign clinic for treatment, announced Georgia's Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze.
“Today, the decision of the Strasbourg court was published, according to which the transfer of Saakashvili in the case of ‘Saakashvili v. Georgia’ to Warsaw has been denied,” he stated.
It is noted that this decision does not obligate Georgia to transfer Saakashvili to any other medical facility within the country.
It should be reminded that the lawyers of the former president of Georgia filed a lawsuit with the Strasbourg court on April 11, 2023.
