Unfortunately, international organizations did not take practical steps to prevent Azerbaijan's new aggression. Taguhi Tovmasyan
The Chair of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, independent Taguhi Tovmasyan, wrote on her Facebook page:
“Impose sanctions, hold Azerbaijan accountable for its latest military aggression against the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia. I have been urgent letters to my international partners about this matter. As early as March 15, 2023, I alerted international organizations that Azerbaijani military units and heavy equipment were being deployed along the entire line of contact in Armenia, which is even visible to the residents of border communities. Moreover, I issued warnings about the potential military aggression of Azerbaijan during my official meetings in Brussels from April 25-29 with officials from the European External Action Service and representatives of the European Parliament.
Unfortunately, international organizations, despite their concerns, did not take practical measures to prevent Azerbaijan's new aggression, which has already resulted in 4 injuries, a gross violation of the rights to life and other fundamental rights of border residents, and, generally, international law.
I am sending urgent letters to all my international partners, alerting that today Azerbaijan's military forces have opened fire using artillery and mortars towards the Armenian positions located in the Sotk direction. I demand an urgent response, the imposition of sanctions, and accountability for Azerbaijan for this latest military aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.”
