Turkey to Modernize Azerbaijani Su-25 Fighter Aircraft
Turkey is modernizing Su-25 attack aircraft serving in the Azerbaijani armed forces as part of a joint project, said Ismail Demir, head of Turkey's defense industry department.
“We are carrying out joint projects with Azerbaijan for the modernization of the Su-25, as well as integration of certain weapon systems and the addition of smart systems,” Azerbaijani media quoted Demir as saying.
The Su-25 attack aircraft was adopted by the Soviet Air Forces in 1981. According to open sources, about 40 aircraft of this type are currently in service with the Azerbaijani armed forces.
