Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Russia, Syria, Turkey, and Iran Begins
The meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Syria has commenced in Moscow.
The process of normalizing relations between Ankara and Damascus began on December 28, 2022, in Moscow, when consultations were held between the heads of the military departments of Russia, Syria, and Turkey. During the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish a joint trilateral commission.
Following these consultations, a meeting at the level of foreign ministers was planned to prepare for negotiations between the presidents of Turkey and Syria, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Bashar al-Assad.
It was later reported that Iran would participate in the consultations at the level of heads of diplomatic agencies.
