Yerevan Municipality Has No Intent to Demolish 'Nemesis' Monument
The Yerevan Municipality has no intention of demolishing the monument dedicated to the heroes of the 'Nemesis' operation. This was stated by Levon Sardarayan, head of the press service of the Yerevan Municipality, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
On April 29, it became known that Ankara, without prior notice, revoked the permission previously granted to Flyone Armenia for flights to Europe through Turkish airspace, explaining this decision by the unveiling of the monument to the heroes of the 'Nemesis' operation in Yerevan. Following this, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated that Armenia should dismantle the monument installed in Yerevan.
“The Yerevan Municipality has no problem or intention of demolishing the 'Nemesis' monument,” Sardarayan said.
The decision to install a fountain-monument dedicated to the heroes of the 'Nemesis' operation was made on September 14, 2021. It should be noted that the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, noted in relation to the installation of the 'Nemesis' monument that a wrong decision had been made.
