USA Allocates New $1.2 Billion Military Aid Package to Ukraine
The United States has allocated a new $1.2 billion military aid package to Ukraine, according to the U.S. Department of Defense website.
The aid is reported to be sent to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and fulfill the needs for artillery munitions. The new package includes additional air defense systems and munitions, equipment for integrating Western air defense stations and missiles with Ukrainian systems, munitions for counter-drone systems, 155 mm artillery shells, satellite imagery services, and support for military readiness.
At the end of April, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated during a visit to Kyiv that since February 2022, NATO allies have provided more than €150 billion to Ukraine, including €65 billion in the form of military aid. Stoltenberg noted that this has allowed the Ukrainian army to regain control over territories in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. NATO has also trained tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers, the alliance's secretary general remarked.
