Protesters Set Tires Ablaze and Throw Molotov Cocktails at Law Enforcement during Beirut Demonstration

The Association for the Protection of Bank Depositors' Rights is conducting mass protests in Beirut. Reports indicate that the demonstrations have turned into clashes with security forces.

Hundreds of citizens, whose accounts have been frozen in local banks since 2019, gathered in front of the parliament building in central Beirut before moving in different directions. Some protesters attempted to storm a branch of Audi Bank in the city center and then headed towards the residence of the acting Prime Minister.

Protesters set tires on fire and threw Molotov cocktails at law enforcement, while security forces responded with tear gas, forcing them to retreat.
