Video: "We want the potholes to be filled the same day they are dug up," Avinyan
The head of the Construction and Urban Improvement Department of Yerevan Municipality, Khoren Grigoryan, provided details on the pothole filling work on the streets of the capital. At the same time, Grigoryan highlighted the problems encountered during these works: "We have a serious issue with the pothole filling contractors, particularly two of them, who are managing 10 lots. They are unable to carry out work in several groups, plus they lack the necessary technical means and a location from which to source asphalt," he said, adding that other companies cannot take over the work of those companies that won the tender. "One of them has already received three warnings; a contract termination notice will be issued. The other has one warning, and if it happens again, the contract will be terminated."
Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan also inquired why relevant standards, such as owning an asphalt plant, are not included in the technical issues. "It is clear that a company with its own plant should handle this volume of work," he noted. Avinyan stated that they want potholes to be dug and filled on the same day. "We should specify that this should happen on the same day, therefore companies that have the capability to do this must participate," he said. Avinyan ordered that from now on, there will be a new requirement for digging and filling to be completed on the same day.
