Narek Manasyan Wins, Ruslan Aslikyan Loses at Boxing World Championship
The World Boxing Championship continues in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. On the latest competition day, two boxers from the Armenian national team, Ruslan Aslikyan and Narek Manasyan, faced off in their respective matches.
In the 54 kg weight category, Ruslan Aslikyan began his fight in the 1/16 finals, where he was defeated by Venezuelan Yoel Finol Rivas with a score of 0-5.
In the 1/8 finals, Narek Manasyan, competing in the 92 kg weight class, fought against Iranian Pouria Amiri. Supporters of the Armenian boxer welcomed him with music, and Armenian melodies played throughout the match. In the first round, Narek had a significant advantage, and the judges awarded him the round with a score of 4:1. In the second and third rounds, without taking unnecessary risks, Narek maintained his lead and emerged victorious over his opponent.
Today, in the evening session, Rafael Hovhannisyan will fight for a place in the quarterfinals in the 86 kg weight category against Turkish boxer Hakan Koch.
It is worth noting that the Armenian team traveled to the competition with 11 boxers. Vahes Harutyunyan (48 kg), Rudolf Garboyan (51 kg), Artur Bazeiyan (57 kg), Artur Ghazaryan (60 kg), Hambardzum Hakobyan (80 kg), and Davit Chaloyan (92+ kg) have already been eliminated from the tournament.
