Discussion on Return of Syrian Refugees to Syria, Says Cavusoglu
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has announced plans to discuss the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland during negotiations with the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, and Syria in Moscow on May 10. This is reported by CNN Turk.
"These will be talks on the Syrian issue. We will discuss how to ensure the safe return of Syrian refugees to their homeland. However, it is necessary to prepare the ground for this, ensuring security and stability. Cooperation with the Syrian leadership and the United Nations will be essential for this," said Cavusoglu.
He noted that currently the Syrian authorities "are unable" to guarantee the safe return of refugees.
Earlier, Turkey's Ministry of Defense had described the quadrilateral meeting in Moscow on the Syrian issue as constructive. The meeting emphasized the need to ensure stability in Syria and the continuation of quadrilateral format meetings. Furthermore, it was revealed that Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu held talks with the heads of the defense ministries of Turkey, Syria, and Iran.
