Video: Ammunition Storage Facilities Catch Fire in Russia

In the village of Pervomaisk in the Sverdlovsk region, two ammunition storage facilities have ignited due to a forest fire. This has been reported by TASS, referencing the emergency situations service.

According to sources from the news outlet, "The forest fire spread to ignite two storage facilities in the village of Pervomaisk, and the flames are threatening 18 adjacent facilities, which also store ammunition." The Ministry of Emergency Situations has confirmed the occurrence of the fire.

“At 20:27 Moscow time on May 6, a report was received about the fire in Sverdlovsk region, Pervomaisk village, Rezh urban district. Upon arrival at the site, where the first fire and rescue crews were called, it was found that the storage areas had been ignited due to the forest fire spreading. According to preliminary information, there are no reports of injuries. Forces and resources are being accumulated to prevent the further spread of the fire,” the statement continued.

The total area of wildfires in Sverdlovsk region amounts to 20,000 hectares, stated regional leader Kuivashev. The situation is deemed critical, and the region has applied for federal assistance to extinguish the fire.

The storage facilities belong to Gefest-M, a company engaged in weapon manufacturing. Each facility contains up to 20 tons of ammunition.
