No One Has Left Our Village So Far: The Head of Yeghsahogh on Residents in Blockade
Residents of Yeghsahogh village in Artsakh, currently under double blockade, are living normal lives, and none are planning to pass through the checkpoint set up by Azerbaijanis. This was stated by the village head Artak Hakobyan in an interview with NEWS.am.
“No one has left our village so far, they have not passed through the Azerbaijani checkpoint, and they do not wish to leave until the issue is resolved. The Russian peacekeepers have delivered essential medicines and other supplies, including animal feed, to the village,” he said.
The village head noted that only two individuals have gone to Goris for health reasons, and efforts are being made to bring them back. According to Hakobyan, there is no panic in the village; the villagers are determined to continue living in their village and do not wish to leave their homes. “If the villagers had wanted to leave, they would have done so before the bridge was closed. On the contrary, the population has even increased; specifically, 2-3 families have joined us,” he added.
It is worth noting that Yeghsahogh has 153 residents.
Recall that after Azerbaijan set up a checkpoint on the border with the Republic of Armenia connecting Artsakh to Armenia, the residents of the communities of Yeghsahogh, Hin Shen, Mets Shen, and Lisagor in the Shushi region of the Republic of Artsakh have been completely cut off, severing their connection to both Stepanakert and any possibility of traveling to the Republic of Armenia.
