Tuition Fee Compensation for Participants of the 44-Day War and Their Families

Between 2021-2022, 8,931 students received around 2 billion drams in tuition fee compensation from the state. The government continues to compensate for the tuition fees of students who participated in combat operations during the 44-day war, as well as the children and spouses of those who participated in the military actions during the war.

The latest decision on the compensation process was adopted during today’s session of the Armenian government. According to the presented draft, from December 22, 2022, to March 30, 2023, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports received data on 59 students from higher education institutions, with a total compensation amounting to 16,344,800 drams.

As there are students who participated in combat operations during the war and children of those participants who were recruited in the summer of 2022 and continued their studies in the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, the recruitment process is still ongoing.

It should be noted that the compensation has been in effect since 2021, and the decision's validity is extended every year. In 2021, 7,318 students studying in higher education institutions received tuition fee compensation totaling 1.6 billion drams. In 2022, 1,613 students benefited from compensation, with the total amount reaching 382 million drams.
