Resolution of Artsakh Conflict Situations Cannot Occur Without Obstacles, Says Russian Deputy Foreign Minister
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has emphasized that the resolution of long-standing and sensitive conflict situations, such as that in Nagorno-Karabakh and its surroundings, realistically cannot proceed without certain obstacles.
According to him, thanks to the efforts of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the hot conflict was successfully quelled in a timely manner. The November 9, 2020 statement by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia referred specifically to the ceasefire and the initiation of movement towards Armenian-Azerbaijani reconciliation, along with the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
Now, according to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, the process continues through dialogue along four main directions: unblocking ties in the region, signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, demarcating borders, and establishing public relations.
“The main elements of the resolution, namely the ceasefire and the articulation of key directions for the Armenian-Azerbaijani reconciliation process, have all been formulated and started to be implemented exclusively due to the mediatory mission of Russia and its president. This, in itself, is already a significant achievement,” he noted.
