Mirzoyan-Sullivan-Bayramov Trilateral Meeting Held

Mirzoyan-Sullivan-Bayramov Trilateral Meeting Held

On May 3, a trilateral meeting was held in Washington, D.C. between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Issues related to regional security and stability, as well as the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussed. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Azerbaijan’s continued aggressive policies towards Nagorno-Karabakh and the occupation of the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia do not contribute to efforts to establish stability in the region.

The Minister emphasized that Azerbaijan's actions against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the hate speech coming from the highest levels, and overt threats to use force indicate Azerbaijan's intent and real threat of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It was highlighted that the withdrawal of troops, delimitation of borders between the two countries based on the Alma-Ata declaration, and addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of a mechanism for internationally guaranteed dialogue are key to a comprehensive resolution and the establishment of lasting stability in the region.
