Erdogan's Office on Closure of Turkish Airspace for Armenia
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's press secretary, Ibrahim Kalin, has commented on the closure of Turkish airspace to Armenian aircraft, referring to Armenia's actions (the unveiling of a monument to the heroes of the 'Nemesis' operation in Yerevan) as 'contrary to Turkey's historical memory.' This was reported by Star.com.
'It was not possible to expect that an action targeting Turkey's historical memory and accusing us of genocide would go unanswered. This led to the closure of the airspace,' he noted.
It should be mentioned that today, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Turkey would not allow aircraft and private jets to pass through its territory 'as long as there are provocations from Armenia against Turkey and Azerbaijan.'
At the same time, Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee announced that it has not received any official notification regarding the closure of airspace from Turkey.
Earlier, it became known that on April 29th, Ankara unilaterally revoked the permission previously granted to Flyone Armenia for flights to Europe through Turkish airspace, explaining this decision by the unveiling of the 'Nemesis' operation heroes monument in Yerevan, which Ankara labeled a 'provocation.'
