New Oil Reserves Discovered in Turkey, Says Erdogan

New oil deposits have been discovered in southeastern Turkey, with an estimated production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day. This was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as reported by Yeni Şafak.

“We have discovered an oil field near the city of Cizre, in the Gabara mountains, with a daily production of around 100,000 barrels. We have already begun supplying high-quality oil to the refinery,” said Erdogan.

According to the Turkish president, the field is named in honor of Aybuke Yalcin, a teacher who was killed by militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (recognized as a terrorist organization in Turkey) in 2017. Erdogan added that the oil is located at a depth of 2.6 kilometers, and the reserves are estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars.
