Tigran Avinyan's Wife Apologizes to Doctor Gevorg Grigoryan
The wife of Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Mariam Pahlavuni, has publicly apologized to urologist Gevorg Grigoryan for using inappropriate language. The court has mandated Pahlavuni to apologize, indicating that she had insulted Grigoryan.
According to datalex.am, in March 2020, urologist Gevorg Grigoryan made a post on his Facebook page, stating that if Tigran Avinyan did not take appropriate measures regarding his wife's remarks, he would pursue legal action. In his post, Grigoryan expressed, “Dear Mr. Avinyan, you have failed to restrain your wife's comments, and as a result, she has used inappropriate language on social media directed at a foreign man, which has gained wide media coverage. I expect a manly stance and responsibility from you for your wife's words.”
Receiving no response, on April 4, he filed a lawsuit seeking to compel Pahlavuni to apologize publicly, retract the insulting statements, and demanded 1 million AMD as compensation. The statement at the center of the case, which the plaintiff deemed offensive, included the phrase: “Everyone knows whose dog you are without that.”
The Court of Appeals ruled that Tigran Avinyan’s wife must apologize to the doctor and imposed a compensation of 100,000 AMD for the damage caused to Grigoryan. Judge Karen Hambardzumyan expressed disagreement with the compensation amount decided in the ruling, believing it should be set at 200,000 AMD as suggested in the draft decision.
The ruling has come into legal force, prompting Mariam Pahlavuni to publicly apologize on her Facebook page to urologist Gevorg Grigoryan.
“I, Mariam Pahlavuni, have insulted Gevorg Grigoryan, and therefore I apologize for making a publication on March 12, 2020, on Facebook, that tarnished his honor and dignity. I sincerely apologize to Mr. Grigoryan for all this,” wrote Mariam Pahlavuni.
