Yerevan Must Contribute to the Search for Mutually Acceptable Solutions: Zakharova
We fundamentally consider it essential that official Yerevan contributes to the search for mutually acceptable solutions. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during her weekly briefing. She commented on the placement of a checkpoint.
“Russia has clearly expressed its position in the statement of the Foreign Ministry on April 24 of this year. Currently, both through the Russian peacekeeping contingent on the ground and at the political level, necessary efforts are being made to resolve the situation around the Lachin corridor and to return to the trilateral agreements of November 9, 2020,” Zakharova stated.
It should be noted that Baku has established a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor, the only route connecting Armenia with Nagorno-Karabakh.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a cabinet meeting that the Russian peacekeeping forces should control the Lachin corridor and ensure the normal functioning of that route. No one, apart from Russian peacekeepers, should control the Lachin corridor, the Prime Minister emphasized.
