Lachin Corridor Can Be Used in 3 Directions: Bayramov
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, made further false claims today during a joint press conference with France’s Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna. Speaking about Baku's illegal actions in the Lachin corridor, Bayramov stated that Armenia is allegedly “manipulating” the issue and claimed that the road is “open for traffic.”
“Numerous proposals have been put forth by the Azerbaijani side. One of them is to ensure a transparent regime for the Lachin corridor; however, the Armenian side has refused the proposal for parallel oversight. In this case, in order to ensure transparent control of the Lachin corridor, on April 23, the Azerbaijani side took corresponding measures to carry out surveillance functions. According to reports, the Lachin corridor can be used in 3 directions: for citizens, goods, and vehicles,” Bayramov stated, effectively confirming that Baku has violated the trilateral statement of November 9 by carrying out actions not in line with it.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has kept the Lachin corridor closed since December 12, refusing to comply with the International Court of Justice’s ruling. Furthermore, on April 23, it installed an illegal checkpoint in the Lachin corridor within the responsibility zone of Russian peacekeepers. Russia has yet to take any effective steps to eliminate this violation.
