Artsakh President Welcomes Newly Appointed Commander of Russian Peacekeeping Forces

On April 27, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, received the newly appointed commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in the Republic of Artsakh, General-Colonel Alexander Lentsov.

President Harutyunyan welcomed the new commander and emphasized the role of the Russian peacekeeping forces in ensuring the security of the people of Artsakh and maintaining stability in the region amidst the current geopolitical situation. Both sides underscored the necessity of the strict implementation of the provisions of the trilateral agreement dated November 9, 2020.

The President conveyed the expectations of the Artsakh authorities from the Russian peacekeeping forces to promptly eliminate all obstacles to the bilateral communication between Artsakh and Armenia and ensure safety, in accordance with the commitments undertaken by the trilateral statement.

During the meeting, issues related to the activities of the peacekeeping forces, the blockade of Artsakh, the maintenance of the regime of the Lachin corridor, and ensuring the normal functioning of vital infrastructure were discussed, among other topics.
