A Man Assaults a Citizen Under the Influence of Alcohol in Stepanakert

On April 18, 2023, at approximately 00:10, in front of house number 52 on Tumanyan Street in Stepanakert, A.K., under the influence of alcohol, left the middle of the road, obstructing the movement of vehicles passing through that section. Without any provocation, he halted a Mercedes-Benz vehicle with license plate 93 AV 999. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Artsakh.

The driver of the vehicle, V.A., exited the car, after which A.K. used violence, delivering intentional blows to him, accompanied by loud insults, thereby openly violating generally recognized standards of behavior and explicitly demonstrating his contempt for the society and the moral and legal norms accepted within it. He deliberately grossly disrupted public order.

In response to this incident, on April 19, 2023, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 269 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Artsakh for hooliganism. A.K. has been arrested, and on April 21, 2023, imprisonment has been applied as a preventive measure. The Prosecutor's Office of Stepanakert is overseeing the legality of the pre-trial criminal proceedings and managing the case.

Notification: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Artsakh, with a court’s legally binding judgment.
