One Arrested and Another Under House Arrest in Case of Assaulting Military Commissar in Tavush

A criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the assault on Lernik Ohanyan, head of the Tavush second territorial unit of the Ministry of Defense, under the provisions of Article 167, Part 2, Points 7 and 12 (causing medium severity harm to health) and Part 1 of Article 297 (hooliganism) of the RA Criminal Code. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

According to the IC, a dispute occurred at a gas station in the village of Tavush in the Berd community regarding the queue for gas refilling between Lernik Ohanyan and local residents G. Atoyani and V. Yesayani, during which the latter assaulted the military commissar.

A proceeding has been initiated by the Tavush regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee in the Berd investigative division regarding the incident.

“The individual has been recognized as a victim in the proceeding. According to the data obtained during the investigation, the incident was not related to his official activities. As a result of a dispute regarding queue maintenance at the gas station in the village of Tavush, Lernik Ohanyan was subjected to violence by two individuals. These individuals were arrested on the basis of reasonable suspicion arising directly from the crime committed. They have been charged with actions provided for under Article 167, Part 2, Points 7 and 12 and Article 297, Part 2, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code,” the Investigative Committee stated.

By the court's decision, one of the individuals has been placed under detention for a period of two months, while the other has been placed under house arrest.
