‘If people's food is not delivered, they will die of starvation’ – Lisagor village head

On April 23, after the Azerbaijani side seized the Hakari bridge on the Artsakh-Armenia border, it began to establish checkpoints. As a result of these actions by Azerbaijan, the villages of Lisagor, Yeghkhahog, Mets Shen, and Hin Shen in the Republic of Artsakh are under total blockade, severing their connection to both Armenia and Artsakh.

In an interview with 168.am, Lisagor village head Gagik Nasibyan stated that since December 12, the village's population had maintained a connection with the Syunik region of Armenia, but they are now completely surrounded on all sides. “Now we have no connection with Stepanakert or the Syunik region, there is no possibility of movement. It turns out that we are in a mutual blockade. Since April 23, no vehicles have been able to enter our area. Thank God, until now, we have not had any emergencies; if people have any health complaints, they go to the village polyclinic,” noted Gagik Nasibyan.

According to the village head, residents are currently using the food available at home. “If the situation continues like this, there will naturally be problems. We are in a mutual blockade, and if food is not delivered to the people, they will die of starvation. Therefore, these checkpoints cannot remain there. Things do not look promising; however, I believe that in time, issues should be resolved,” concluded the Lisagor village head.

It is worth recalling that on March 25, Azerbaijani armed forces, once again violating the obligations they undertook with the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, breached the contact line established by the same document in the Shushi-Lisagor section and achieved certain positional advancements within the territory of the Republic of Artsakh. By March 30, they had also made advancements in the Tatev community of the Syunik region, where Azerbaijani armed forces represented themselves in the fields belonging to the residents of Tatev.
