Abrahamyan: 'The issue is very clear, there should be no checkpoint, period'
The discussions surrounding the establishment of an Azerbaijani checkpoint in the corridor connecting Armenia to Artsakh do not reflect Armenian interests in any way. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the 'I Have Honor' faction of the National Assembly, on his Facebook page.
'The issue is very clear: there should be no checkpoint, period. This is also stated in the trilateral document of November 9, 2020. The discussions about how to distribute functions between the Russian and Azerbaijani sides at the checkpoint, who will act under what circumstances, are fundamentally detrimental to the Armenian side. There is nothing to negotiate on this topic. Perhaps there are areas where compromises can be made, but on the specific issue of the checkpoint, we must be uncompromising, because if it starts operating, everything will end quickly,' he wrote.
