God Forbid Anyone Gets Sick: The Village Head of Yeghdzahogh Discusses the Vital Need for Medication

In the Kornidzor-Artsakh section, following the placement of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan two days ago, the residents of Yeghdzahogh, Hin Shen, Mets Shen, and Lisagor villages in the Shushi region found themselves completely cut off. Thus, the Azerbaijanis closed the roads leading from these villages to both Stepanakert and the Republic of Armenia.

“In Yeghdzahogh village, located 500-600 meters away from the Azerbaijani checkpoint, God forbid anyone gets sick; the issue of medication is vital at this moment,” said the head of Yeghdzahogh, Artak Hakobyan, in an interview with MediaHub.

After the surrender of Berdzor, Yeghdzahogh ended up directly under the target of enemy forces. Hakobyan pointed out, “Who is not under blockade now, and who is safe?”

“The ground road has been closed for a month now. Our connection with Armenia was also cut off. We do not yet have problems with food, as we are still using our reserve fund. God forbid someone gets sick; there will be an issue with medication. If such a situation arises, the State Minister of Artsakh has said to contact the ‘Red Cross’ or the peacekeepers to resolve this issue through their mediation,” Hakobyan stated.

It is worth noting that about a month ago, Azerbaijan once again violated the obligations established by the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, by breaching the contact line registered in that document in the Shushi-Lisagor area, ensuring some positional advancement within the territory of the Republic of Artsakh. The communities of Lisagor, Yeghdzahogh, Mets Shen, and Hin Shen have in fact been cut off from the capital Stepanakert via both mountain and ground roads. In addition to the ground road, there was also the road leading to Stepanakert via Berdzor, which has been unlawfully closed by the Azerbaijani side for over 150 days.
