Explosion at Illinois Factory Leaves One Dead
One person has died and another has been injured following an explosion at an oil refinery in Illinois, reports NBC Chicago citing its sources.
Initially, it was reported that the explosion occurred in an asphalt storage area and posed no danger to the public.
“However, several power transmission lines in the area have been damaged as a result of the explosion,” the report stated.
According to the television station, the incident took place at a facility owned by Seneca Petroleum in the city of Lemont. A local publication, Patch, citing the fire department, reported that the fire that broke out at the refinery is being contained. All firefighters in the city are participating in extinguishing it.
