Details on the Tragic Accident on the Yerevan-Gyumri Highway
The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a statement today regarding the tragic accident on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway.
On April 24, at 15:32, the Regional Crisis Management Center of Aragatsotn received a report of a traffic accident near the village of Nerk'in Bazmaberd, indicating that rescue services were needed.
A firefighting and rescue team from the Ministry's regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene.
It was found that at the 63rd kilometer of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, a collision occurred between a Nissan Latio (driver A. Sh., born in 1991) and a VAZ-21015 (driver T. B., born in 1999). As a result, the latter vehicle veered off the road (approximately 15 meters) and ended up in a field, leading to the death of passenger V. A. (born in 2002) at the scene.
Before the rescuers arrived, passenger S. H. (born in 2002) from the VAZ-21015 was transported to the hospital in Ashtarak, where he was pronounced dead.
The rescuers assisted the drivers into ambulances, and both were hospitalized at the Talin hospital, where doctors assessed their conditions as moderate.
The rescuers disconnected the vehicles' power, closed the gas cylinder valves, carried out cleaning operations on the stretch of road, and moved V. A.'s body closer to the ambulance.
