Abductions and Other Forms of Torture Will Begin in Artsakh by Azerbaijan: Babayan
“This is a horrifying reality, and this issue must be resolved urgently. This can only be achieved through unity, with tough but honest negotiations with Moscow, Washington, Paris, and Yerevan,” stated David Babayan, an advisor to the President of Artsakh, in an interview with Factinfo.
He noted that the Minsk Group has not been dissolved, and the countries involved continue to engage separately in the conflict resolution process.
“Moreover, both France and the USA, as bastions of democracy and permanent members of the UN Security Council, must answer whether the occupation of a democratic country, in other words, genocide by a totalitarian state, is acceptable to them or not. Ultimately, Moscow, which has peacekeepers here, should finally respond — is it a guarantor or not, can it or cannot it fulfill its duties so that we understand our next steps,” Babayan emphasized.
In response to the question of what consequences the newly installed sign near the Hakari Bridge will have — indicating the territory beyond the bridge as Azerbaijani — and whether this will exert psychological pressure on our compatriots living in Artsakh, Babayan stated that psychological pressure is an understatement; it is merely a minor, invisible part of the expected actions against the people in Artsakh.
“This is a sign of Azerbaijan's intent to destroy Artsakh, to spit on the Armenian people, and to disregard the Russian Federation, the co-chairing countries of the Minsk Group, and, in general, the world, because the enemy is confident in its impunity,” Babayan remarked.
When asked whether Azerbaijan would use the sign as a basis for committing atrocities against our compatriots in Artsakh, Babayan stressed that there will undoubtedly be acts of violence. These will include abductions, mass arrests, and other forms of torture.
