Turkey's Foreign Ministry Responds to Biden's Speech on Armenian Genocide
The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has reacted to U.S. President Joe Biden's April 24 address, in which he once again used the term "Armenian Genocide" and reaffirmed a promise to never forget. "Today we take a moment to remember the victims of the Great Exile—the Armenian Genocide—and renew our promise to never forget," said the U.S. President.
According to Turkey's Foreign Minister, this is an attempt to distort historical facts. "Charlatans who attempt to twist history are once again on the political stage. Political statements will not change historical facts. Those who seek to gain from prejudice will be remembered as two-faced. No one dares to teach history to the great Turkish nation," Çavuşoğlu wrote on Twitter.
It is noteworthy that today marks the 108th anniversary of the Great Exile.
