PACE Monitors Azerbaijani Actions in the Lachin Corridor, Says Irish MP

The rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Irish MP Paul Gavan, has announced that he will visit Armenia and Azerbaijan to prepare an impartial report on the situation in the Lachin Corridor. Commenting on the establishment of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan at the beginning of the Lachin Corridor on April 23, Gavan noted, “This unilateral action by Azerbaijan occurs against the backdrop of the obstruction of the unobstructed passage through the Lachin Corridor, the only communication route between the Nagorno-Karabakh region and Armenia, which has been ongoing since December 12, 2022, as well as the escalation of tensions.”

“The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly is closely monitoring this situation,” he emphasized. He also highlighted that “the suffering of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the serious humanitarian crisis resulting from the blockade have been documented,” he added.
