France Closes Its Embassy in Sudan
France has closed its embassy in Sudan, according to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "The French embassy in Sudan is no longer serving as a gathering point for citizens who wish to leave Khartoum. The embassy will continue its operations from Paris," the statement reads.
It is noted that France is ready to contribute to the establishment of a ceasefire and to the resumption of the political process in Sudan.
Previously, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that France had evacuated more than 380 people from Sudan, including French citizens and nationals from several other countries.
Since April 15, fighting has been ongoing in Sudan between the rapid response forces led by Mohammed Daglo and the regular army. Opposing forces in Sudan are exchanging conflicting statements about military successes and control over facilities, waging a broad information war in the media and social networks.
According to Sudan’s Minister of Health, the number of casualties from the clashes has reached 600.
