Azerbaijan Violates Provisions of Tripartite Fundamental Document: Artsakh Prime Minister
Today, Azerbaijan has closed the section of the Stepanakert-Goris highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia, specifically the segment leading to the Republic of Armenia's border (in the Lachin corridor), and has begun the construction and equipping of a checkpoint. This was reported by the State Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan.
"Azerbaijan has carried out an action that has been declared unacceptable multiple times by many, including the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs on February 28, 2023, in Baku, as it is not stipulated in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. Azerbaijan has violated the provisions of the trilateral foundational document, adherence to which has been repeatedly emphasized as critically necessary by the primary guarantor of the ceasefire, Russia, the collective West, and UN Security Council member states. This document has been the basis for the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights," Nersisyan wrote.
The people of the Republic of Artsakh have the right to expect and demand clear assessments and practical actions from these actors, and they are awaiting them. We oppose Azerbaijan’s policy of ethnic cleansing with our clear determination to live freely on our land, not excluding any means to achieve that goal.
We rationally expect that our determination against being violently deprived of our homeland or subjected to force will ultimately receive proper international support in our just struggle for our rights,” Nersisyan stated.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani side has closed the Hakari bridge located on the Artsakh-Armenia border.
